From April 10th to April 12th, 2023, the delegation of the South China Sea Strategic Situation Probing Initiative (SCSPI) headed by Director Hu Bo, attended a forum titled “MAFDC Forum on the South China Sea 2023” held by Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College (MAFDC), and visited Malaysia think tanks to exchange views on the China-Malaysia relation and maritime-related issues, in order to promote academic and think tank connection with institutions in Kuala Lumpur.

During the forum on April 10th, Commandant of the MAFDC, FAdm Badarudin Taha delivered welcoming remarks. The 2 panels of the forum are Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing and Rules-based Maritime Order. More than 100 officials and scholars from Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, Australia, United States, China and other countries attended the event on site and online.

From April 11th to April 12th, SCSPI delegation attended roundtable discussions with Maritime Institute of Malaysia (MIMA), Research for Social Advancement (REFSA), Bait Al Amanah, and Institute of China Studies (ICS) at the University of Malaya respectively. Scholars and officials exchanged views on varies issues such as the situation in the South China Sea and maritime cooperation etc.
